Weigh in Day

Well I'm very happy to say that my weight has gone down a teeny bit from last week.  Last week it was 133.4 and body fat was 28.6%.....today my weight is 132.8 and my body fat is 25.9% - now that body fat could have gone down that much because of the gastro issue I was fighting this week, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it go up again, its such an iffy number.  But I'm so thrilled to see a new number on the scale.
As a reward I went to the Shoe Company and bought two new pairs of Sketchers - I love to wear their Flex runners to the gym, they are light as air and so many cool colours.  Today I got black with turquoise blue accents and laces and also a white and hot pink pair with hot pink laces.  LOVE!!  Got my kids each a pair too for our upcoming Florida trip.  Sketchers rock!!

Thursdays plan

God there is nothing I love more that seeing that front door close at 845am on a weekday morning - adios children....Mama gets the day to herself....haha....
I'm sitting here typing my blog as I eat my egg white omelette - 1 whole egg, 1/2 cup egg whites and just under a cup of chopped veggies.  Some days it goes down easier than others.
Dropping Jacko off at daycare and then right to the gym.  Today is going to be all weights - full body.  I have been doing the workout featured in this months Oxygen magazine - its about 4 pages long and its a great workout.  I just take the magazine with me to the gym and away I go.  Takes me about an hour so thats perfect.  While I'm working out I have a 600 ml water bottle with me filled with water and one scoop of lemon flavoured Post RX that I get at GNC - helps the water to go down easier and when you are drinking loads of water its a nice change.
Oh and yesterday just after lunch I started feeling better and because I am trying to work out 6 days a week, 5 minimum I decided to workout at home so I did my cardio/scultping DVD before the kids came home.
Lunch today will be my old standby of chopped veggies (all colours of peppers, cucumbers, carrots) sprinkled with a bit of olive oil and red wine vinegar, chopped chicken and a sprinkle of cold quinoa.  This is pretty much what I eat every day for lunch.  Sometimes I add a 100 cal pack of cheesies with it if I'm craving but I'm trying to be extra good this week so I will just eat the salad.
Some notes - I used to use balsamic vinegar on my chopped salad but its full of sugar so Rita had me switch to red wine vinegar which I enjoy just as much.
As for the quinoa I buy a box of it in the health food section at Loblaws.  The key to quinoa is soaking it - if I'm rushed I will soak if for a minimum of 2-3 hours before cooking but when I can I soak it overnight.  Then I cook it in water, let cool, squeeze the juice out of one lime on it and add chopped veggies and a few craisens for sweetness.  Then its in my fridge for the week and I eat as a meal or add as a side dish or just sprinkle on a salad.
I also buy a whole cooked chicken probably every other day - thats how much chicken I go through.  When my hubby is around I get him to bbq me a bunch of chicken breasts and then I eat those throughout the week.
As I mentioned I'm back to being quite strict since my weight seems to be stuck between the 133-134 mark so snack today will be a handful of cold carrots and cold chicken.
Supper tonight I am making my homemade from scratch chicken noodle soup.  I boil a whole chicken for an hour, then remove the chicken, let it cool and cut up the white meat.  Add back into the water, 2 tbsps also of chicken bouillon, pepper, cook for another 45 minutes or so on medium.  Then add carrots and celery, pepper and cook for another 15 minutes and finally add egg noodles right at the end.  Awonderful nutritious meal that the whole family likes and I can have the leftovers for lunch the next day.  And yes, I eat the egg noodles....
So off I go- this has actually been a really quiet week for me - no plans...no drama....knock on wood.  I have nothing on this afternoon either so maybe another tv marathon, little laundry - before the craziness of the next few days.  Tomorrow I'm desperately hoping Avah's birthday presents arrive from American Girl Doll to our UPS box in Port Huron so that I can whip there....she has her spa birthday on Saturday that she is so excited about.  Then her actual birthday is on Tuesday where we will give her a new American Girl Doll which is a huge surprise to her - she has no idea she is getting the newest doll.  I asked her where she wants to go for dinner that night and of all the places we could go she asked for The London Club...a girl after my own heart.  So we will wine and dine there and then give her the presents.  So excited to see her face.
We leave for 2 weeks in Florida, 3 weeks from tomorrow - my goal is 130lbs but even more than that to look good in a bikini- I'm going bikini shopping when I'm there to stock up for summer......no excuses....this is the year of Sarah!!! But more on Florida as we get closer to the date.  Off to the gym now my friends.  And once again  thanks for all the amazing comments about my blog being back.  You guys inspire me not to cheat and to focus and to get myself to the gym everyday.  Could not have done any of this without my Facebook friends.

I'm baaacccckkkk!!!!

Well my friends - here I am, back to blogging after a 3 month or so hiatus.  I have had so many people ask me why I stopped and emailing me to say they miss the blog and my food diary's that I've decided to start again and share this amazing journey that I have taken.
When I last left off I think I was on the Herbal Magic train and going nowhere fast.  That little trend kept going over the Christmas holidays and into the first part of Jan.
One day - actually Jan 21st (a Monday) to be more specific I was in step class, looking at myself in the mirror and I thought - you know what - this has to stop - I'm cruising into age 38 and I want to be the best Sarah I can be.  No more games, its time to get serious.  So immediately after class I was to be training with Rita or Coach Catalino as we call her and instead I sat down with her and said "Rita, I am putting myself in your hands, tell me what to do and I will do it".
She was so excited for me and encouraging (little did I know that she was also doubting me because I had said similar things before).  She got out a piece of paper and gave me my new rules for the next 3 weeks - No Sugar, No Dairy, No Grains (except quinoa), No Alcohol, No Fruit......sounded a little daunting but I didn't care - I was in.  I told her 2 weeks and then I was off on a cruise so lets see how we do.
Now backing up a bit - and remember - if you are reading my blog, there are no secrets here, I let it all out - weight, bodily functions, feelings etc.....so around the end of Nov I topped out at my highest weight EVER - 148lbs - shocking, right??  Doing Herbal magic and working out with Rita I managed to get down around 5 lbs.  Not great considering I thought I was eating fairly healthy...turns out I needed a major jump start to rid my body of all the estrogen and other toxins from all the IVF treatments.
So on Jan 21st with Rita - I made a commitment - I weighed in that day at 142.6lbs and 31% body fat.  That's a really high body fat for me.  I started that day and as all of you know that first week was hell - I was detoxing bad, there were tears, I was starving and uncomfortable.  I got the hugest zit I have ever had in my life and it was literally oozing all sorts of crap out of it.  I started going to the infra red sauna to detox even more and that zit just keep on oozing...I believe a lot of crap in my body came out of that poor zit...lol....Steadily for those 2 weeks the weight started coming off fast - by Feb 1 - 2 days before my cruise I was down to 134.6lbs and 28% body fat - amazing.  And I was feeling amazing too.  I went off on my cruise and I was careful but still had small indulgences.  I came back from the cruise and weighed 136lbs - up just under 2lbs - I was happy with that.  And I was back down to 134.2lbs within 2 days.
Now my last weigh in was Feb 22 and my weight was 133.2 lbs and my body fat was 26.6%.  The weight loss as Rita explained to me will wayyyy slow down now - maybe not even a pound a week and I am totally happy with that.  Even more exciting to me is that all my clothes fit again, people at the gym stop me to say they can't believe how great I look, I'm in such a great mood, feeling good about myself.....I believe when I look back at my blogs that I had said I would be happy at 135lbs - well guess what - my new goal before I leave for Florida Mar 23rd is 130lbs and then when I get home I might even try for 125lbs but I know 130lbs is a great weight for me.  Now I'm busy working out 6 days/week - training hard to get into bikini shape -trying to tighten everything up.
So stick around for my daily menus - this helps me to stay focused - I have little cheats now and again - I have added in fat free plain greek yogurt and berry shakes maybe twice a week now - that is my only dairy and fruit, I eat brown or wild rice maybe once every 10 days now, I eat a whole grain 3 inch bun maybe once or twice a month now as a sandwich at lunch just to change things up.  I drink maybe 1 glass of wine a week now on Saturday nights.  But I keep it real too -I was at dinner at my sisters the other weekend and she made her homemade spagetti sauce - I had a very small portion of spaghetti, a huge salad and then dessert was apple crisp and I had a spoonful....I have learned moderation is key.
So todays meals - for breakfast I had 2 hardboiled egg whites and a handful of carrots.  I actually am suffering from a 24 hour gastro bug right now which is keeping me close to home and the washroom so no gym today.  Lunch is going to be for the first time in a couple weeks a whole grain 3 inch sandwich with fat free ham.  Not sure about snack yet - supper I'm so excited about - grilled shrimp in olive oil with tomatoes and garlic served on lettuce wraps, with roasted asparagus in coconut oil and mashed cauliflower.  My kids think they are mashed potatoes - love sneaking that healthiness into them.  If you want the recipe log on to www.modernmom.com - my fav website and go to Brooke Burkes OMB section and watch the video of her making it.  Delish.
